Podcast Speaking Opportunities

As many of you know, I launched LegAAcy Chat in January 2022, a podcast by and for members of A.A. to share their experience, strength, and hope on ALL THREE of our legacies in Alcoholics Anonymous.

The primary purpose of of each episode is to create a discussion space of our three legacies so listeners might be able to have a richer, and more personal experience of A.A.’s 12 Steps, 12 Traditions, and 12 Concepts for World Service.

I was able to get a bunch episodes recorded and launched, but now I am needing to finish it up and have 12 spots left to record. I am looking for A.A. members who would like to share on the following open episodes:

Traditions: 4, 5, & 7
Concepts: All are available except C1, 2, & 12

If you’re interested in being a guest speaker, please visit LegAAcy Chat on our website to see what it’s all about and how we interact with our guest speakers.

Frequently Asked Questions:

1. Do I need to be a professional speaker or have been on a podcast before?
No.  What I am looking for are members of A.A. who are just comfortable sharing their experience, strength, and hope. I try and create a very informal space for a conversation between myself and the speaker, just as if the two of us were sitting in my living room on the sofa talking about the topic.

2. How are the episodes created?
I record them on ZOOM and use the audio only from each recording session to post on our website (we take Tradition 11 and our anonymity seriously).  I’ve had guests joins us from all over the U.S. and Canada so I felt ZOOM would be an easy platform to use to create an easy recording experience.

3. What do I need to prepare to be a guest speaker?
Nothing.  Your experience, your stories, your passion for A.A. is what I’m looking for.  That said, I will provide each speaker before hand a set of sample questions I will possibly be asking if you want to be thinking about it.  I also encourage folks to listen to already posted episodes so you can see what the format is and what it feels like. I use a similar format for all of our episodes.

4. How long does it take to record and episode?
I generally ask our guest speakers to block off 2 hours for the recording session on their calendar.  It usually doesn’t take near that long, but better to plan accordingly.

5. Do speakers need to have professional audio equipment on their end to be a speaker?
It certainly helps if you do when you are connecting your audio setup to ZOOM, but if you don’t, that’s okay too.

If you, or someone you know is interested in sharing your experience, strength & hope on one of our 36 principles found in the Three Legacies of A.A., please email me at takingthe12@gmail.com.  I look forward to hearing from you.

Note: I will be taking speakers on a first come, first served basis, so if you reach out and someone has already selected one of the open episodes, please be prepared to choose another.

In love and service,
